Child Exploitation Awareness Day – make your pledge today
Today, in the UK, it is Child Exploitation Awareness Day – a day that aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding child sexual abuse. After a number of high profile sexual exploitation cases in the news, the National Working Group felt that it was appropriate to create an awareness day that is dedicated to tackling this problem.
Aside from making society more aware of the warning signs of child exploitation and the importance of reporting incidents, days like this also educate children on appropriate relationships and encourages them to speak out if they are a victim of sexual abuse. This is a problem that is on the rise, so appropriate, effective action is needed now.
Against this backdrop, we are encouraged to make a pledge in support of Child Exploitation Awareness Day. Our pledge is to save children from sexual abuse and to identify future perpetrators to prevent this problem from recurring. Search for the hashtag #helpinghands on Twitter to see pledges from various companies and peers. You might just be inspired.
